TEKES is an immersive exhibition fusing performances and installations, transforming the gallery into a living space of action and resonance. Over the course of six weeks, Shahar Dor and Elad Schneiderman operate within the evolving environment of the exhibition, where the physical and sonic works on display are the remnants and echoes of ongoing live actions and rituals, that are influenced by the fusion of concept and audience presence, imbued with a dynamic, shifting energy.
In the gallery, packages hang suspended, waiting for their moment of revelation. Each one bears a date, marking the precise moment when it will be unsealed, its contents exposed. The objects and tools are gathered, forming a latent force that is about to awaken. The air hums with anticipation, as actions preordained yet always subject to change are set to unfold in real time.
The exhibition challenges the space itself, positioning it as an intuitive stage where visitors unknowingly become part of the performance. The boundaries between performer and spectator dissolve, and the gallery becomes a living, breathing organism. The use of electronic sound, masterfully woven into the installation, adds a subtle but powerful dimension—an invisible thread that connects the visual elements scattered throughout the space. This sonic landscape binds the disparate components together, creating a unified whole that pulses with life. A system of instruments evolves as the performance progresses, drawing the audience into its unfolding narrative. The search for new sounds—searching, listening, refining—breathes life into simple, humble objects: a punctured tin can, a bundle of dry branches, a taut wire, the rough texture of paper. These seemingly ordinary materials are transformed through the act of ritual into an extraordinary.
